Evaluation

When we decided to make our film there was only one major rule we wanted to stick to and that was to make sure it was a thriller because that was the main objective. So we developed our views on what a 'Thriller' really was, so we looked at people such as Martin Ruben, Martin Northrop and others and we found that in a lot of views that people had in common was that thrillers should "make the viewers think and not know what is going to happen yet (partial vision)" and that the film should be a "puzzle" throughout. So with our film ("what’s the plot") people have said that we may have challenged the thriller with our use of blood in the opening sequence, and that our film was a more physical thriller(i.e. murder) than a metal one (i.e. psychopath) and although in the opening there is blood, there is much more to the film as it would develop with the mental state of the main character (Jack Forde) having a strange way of showing love, also the film has an emotional ending. There is a clear semantic field for the way the characters live and there personalities; with them living in a run down estate, with not a lot of money and Jacks mum being an alcoholic/drug addict and this is because it is the best way a viewer can relate to what is happening in the film. Like many other films a women is the first victim this may be due to people believing they are more venerable and that it can add a bigger impact upon the development for the film. With our film it would have been created on a very much minimum budged and not having any big name movie stars so with the cast the over all purpose of the film and its lotion and surroundings it would be a UK distributed film and so therefore no European distribution would be used, we have researched films that are a very "British" and found that companies such as "UK screen", "UK film council" and "Film Four" would be good intuitions to distribute our film, Reasons for only showing the film in the UK would come down to culture as they are all different in every country, products like "the football factory" wouldn’t have been showing the U.S because the percentage that would want to view this is too little the same that UK screens would not sow a film based in baseball yet there are some exceptions but this could come down to big named stars and large amounts of money being given towards the film.

As for wich age chatagory we would choose was a hard decision as we wated some scary and graphical parts in our film but we wanted it to be appealing to your people and not just adults so after much discussion we decided that we could go for 15 becuase we though that it was best for both older and younger and even though the structure of the film isnt the easiist to understand its not the hardist either, for obvisous reasons "whats the plot" would be more appealing to the male sex due to blood ect, but we hope with the addition of some what good looking male characters the sex atendece could balance, as for the younger people we intended to appeal our film towards we had to think carefully about how we could achieve them to watch our film, and we decided that with a main character around the same age (16/17) would catch the eyes of teengers as they can relate to the main character( jack forde). Even though death is involved in our film apart from the death, there is deeper emotion as the growth of a friendship emergies between Jack Forde and our killer and by this even though the viewers will understand he is bad man its not his fault and that can then become touching and involves the audince much more as they do not know what the outcome could be and whether it will be good or bad.

Our enitial ideas on who would be our best audience for our film was a wide rancge and we strugled with deciding certian characteristics for our audience but when we got our feedback it opened our ideas to new paths of who we could target, comments incuded things such as-
"you used good camera angles creating susspence, good use of props creating a good tricks on the eys i.e blood, your film is scary but at that same time has a clear twist, leaving it a perfect thriller and follows nearly all the codes and conventions of thriller films" so after a collection of comments much like these ones we realised that as well as this film will give the viewer sense of shock and some what a scare also makes them ask questions and them not knowing what will happen next so with this we were lucking with knowing we had two clear sets of film lovers who would be interested in our film those who love the thrill of being shocked/scared and those who love a twisting story and an unknowing ending
